You must have heard of the benefits of organic and natural beauty products. Natural shampoos are a great yet simple way to boost your hair-care. But have you tried them out yet? Better still, have you considered making them at home?
Not only does it save you money, but making your own shampoo at home helps you avoid all strong chemicals used in commercially available shampoos.
The best part is that you can customize your shampoo to suit your hair type and even scent it the way you want!
So what are you waiting for?
Follow this easy recipe to get started.
What you need
- Half a cup coconut milk
- Half a cup liquid castile soap
- Optional- Half teaspoon almond oil or olive oil (this is preferred if you have dry hair)
- Approximately 15 drops of essential oil of your choice
- Bottle to store shampoo (use foaming dispenser if easily available)
Bonus tip 1: To keep it completely and purely natural, make your own coconut milk at home instead of using canned ones. Mix two parts water with one part shredded coconut and blend on high for few minutes. Strain using a fine cloth to remove any residue and your coconut milk is ready.
Bonus tip 2: If you have frequent headaches, use essential oils like peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender or pine, or their combination, in your shampoo to have a calming effect.
What to do
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl then pour carefully into the bottle. Shake well to mix it well further.
Presto! Your all new homemade shampoo is ready to use.
Use a small amount according to your hair length and shake well before every use. This can be kept in shower for up to a month.
Treat your hair with this natural formula and feel them thank you with their newfound smoothness and shine.
