When it comes to skincare, most men aren’t interested with anything more than a shave and a face wash.
Just because men have greater skin elasticity than women does not give them a reason to skip their skincare regimen. If you are a guy who thinks that getting a facial or toner for your skin is not important, think again.
You don’t have to go all and get a 4 step peel, but a basic skincare routine is all you need to maintain healthy and clean skin.
Here is a basic skincare routine for men that you should have:
Cleansing
- No matter what age you are, cleaning your skin is a must.
- Every morning before heading out or going to bed, wash your face with warm water to open up the pores and clear away any dirt or oil on the skin.
- Apply a coin-sized men’s face wash, rinse, lather and wash well. Make sure to lather and rub your face in circular motions for 20-30 seconds.
- Wash away with cold water as it will shrink the pores and no dirt will go in.
- Unless you have very oily skin, don’t wash your face more than twice a day as it will dry up your skin very fast.
Exfoliate
Exfoliation is a great way to remove dead skin cells from your face and clear up any excess hard to reach dirt that has been clogging the skin. Invest in a good scrub or those micro-beaded face washes that you can use every once or twice a week. You can also make a DIY scrub by mixing sugar granules with coconut oil.
Moisturize
Your skin needs a little TLC so don’t leave it dry. Moisturize your skin every day by using a non-comedogenic moisturizing cream. Your face needs to be hydrated no matter what season it is. Moisturized skin is less likely to have early signs of aging and keeps your face looking supple as ever. If you are over 35 then get an anti-aging moisturizer for men and apply it every night before bed. Check out our simple steps to correctly moisturize your face.
Protect the skin
The number reason people get age spots and wrinkles early is because they don’t use any sun protection. Wear an SPF 50 every day before heading out to protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun.
For the body
Like the face, the body also needs extra care, therefore make sure to use body washes and lotions that contain vitamin e and natural plant/fruit extracts that help in nourishing the skin. Try not to use soap bars because they usually have harsh chemicals that strip the skin of its natural oils.
Hand cream
Let’s not forget the hands. In a study conducted, women found men’s hands as one of the most attractive features about them. So along with building those biceps in the gym make sure you are taking care of your hands as well. Use a hand cream so that your hands are not dry, flaky or cracked.
Once you get all these things taken care of, you are set in skincare routine for men! Anything more would be an added benefit but this should be your daily regimen.
