Summer is the time of year when you can shamelessly wear tank tops and shorts to walk around the beach or under the sun without feeling weird. Since you will be exposing your arms and legs (or maybe even your stomach and back) for extended periods of time, make them look fabulous. Naturally, you should protect them with sunscreen, but it is also important that your exposed skin looks glowing and beautiful.
Since you will be exposing everything, it is important to make an impression. Don’t waste your money on expensive shimmering body sprays and oils – make a DIY glowing body oil.
Making the Oil
During the wintertime, dry skin gets all the attention, and during the summer time, glowing skin gets all the attention. The drying effects of the sun plus the extensive amount of time you spend in the ocean or in the pool can cause your exposed skin to look like a dried-out alligator. Moisturizer is the go-to option for most people, but during the summer months, opting for a body oil would be the best option. Add a little shimmer to your chosen body oil and make an impression no one will forget.
To make this amazing glowing body oil, you will only need two ingredients. Choose a lightweight oil and a shimmery eye shadow that would complement your natural skin tone. The oil of choice should be sunflower oil (this is an extremely lightweight oil) and a bronze-y eye shadow. If you want to add a pearl or white colored eye shadow to the concoction, that can make it look even more glowing.
Many people decide to use a mineral foundation powder, but it does not get the same results. The color is too light and when you dip your body in the water, it can make you look muddy. Bronzing powder can be an option as well but it can give the same muddy effects.
Once you get the ingredients together, you can start making your body oil. In a small bowl, add a small amount of oil (almost an ounce) and about ¼ teaspoon of eye shadow. Scrape the eye shadow out in a bowl with something sharp so you are not wasting the product. Measure it, combine it, and stir it properly. The amount of eye shadow that you add depends on the color you want the oil to be.
Although, the oil may look a little dark in the bottle you are adding it into, the oil will begin to transform when you apply it to your skin. Since the eye shadow has the tendency to settle at the bottom of the bottle, make sure shake before each use.
