DIY Hair Treatment You Need

If you find yourself envying women with long, healthy tresses, there’s a remedy for that. Rather than waiting each month to grow half an inch of hair (the average time frame for hair growth), speed the process up. This “remedy” won’t cost you a fortune, and it doesn’t entail questionable ingredients that may damage the strength and integrity of your hair. On the contrary, it will nourish your scalp and hair strands while also creating longer hair fast.

If you love making your own skin and hair treatments, you will love this DIY hair treatment. It consists of all-natural ingredients proven over time to work. You only need five oils, some aloe juice, and a very large bottle.

DIY Hair Treatment Ingredients:

  • Melted coconut oil (1/2 cup)
  • Aloe Vera juice (1/2 cup)
  • Tea tree oil (10 drops)
  • Peppermint Oil (10 drops)
  • Lavender oil (10 drops)
  • Cedarwood Oil (5 drops)
  • One large spray or applicator bottle

Directions:

In a large bottle, apply the aloe Vera juice and coconut oil, leaving the essential oils for last. Shake until properly combined.

Note: Keep in a warm place so the coconut oil doesn’t solidify. If the oil solidifies, heat water in a large pot (the water should be high enough to reach all the content within the bottle), and allow it to melt. Make sure the applicator/hair spray bottle you use can withstand high temperatures and don’t forget to add a small drop to your wrist to test the heat prior to applying it to your scalp.

Application:

Now for the fun part. Apply the mixture to your scalp and massage for at least five minutes. This helps the ingredients seep into your scalp, which creates a more effective treatment. Additionally, scalp massages stimulate hair growth by increasing blood circulation.

Next, run your (oiled) hands down the length of your hair, paying special attention to your ends. Leave the oil overnight, let it work its magic, and then thoroughly rinse it out in the morning.

Note: When you wash your hair, be sure to use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.

Do this again every night for as long as you desire. We recommend taking a before shot of your hair, use the DIY hair treatment for one month, and then take an after shot to see the results.

Why it Works: Ingredients That Matter

We’ve come across many natural hair treatments (whether DIY or store-bought) that claim to increase hair growth. Many of these products are good, but we try to focus on products that are great. This DIY hair treatment is particularly special (therefore, worth writing about!) because it contains ingredients that work.

Coconut Oil: This is not a gimmick – coconut oil actually increases hair growth and thickens hair strands. The important vitamins and fatty acids not only increase hair growth but reduces sebum build-up on your scalp. So if you want to skip a day or two of washing your hair, the coconut oil shouldn’t clog pores and impede growth.

Aloe Vera: Powerful enzymes within aloe help to cleanse your scalp and improve damaged hair follicles. As you may know, repaired follicles create faster hair growth.

Tea Tree Oil: Much like argan oil, you can find tea tree oil in many popular hair care products. It may be a current fad, but for good reason. Tea tree oil, like the coconut oil, cleans the scalp by unclogging hair follicles. Combined with a carrier oil, such as coconut, it acts as an incredible hair growth stimulant.

Peppermint Oil: Peppermint has been used as a beauty remedy for thousands of years, and even today, people tout it for its ability to stimulate hair growth. It’s important to note that, even though there isn’t much research on the effects of peppermint oil as a hair growth treatment, studies have shown that it works by causing blood vessels to widen. In turn, this increases blood flow.

Lavender Oil: A recent study performed on mice revealed that the application of lavender oil not only increased the rate of hair growth but thickened the new hair strands.

Cedarwood Oil: Finally, there’s cedarwood, which increases circulation to the scalp. The cedarwood oil really comes in handy as you run the DIY hair treatment down your strands because it helps to thicken your hair.

A Powerful Combination

Separately, each ingredient has amazing benefits for the nurture, health, and beauty of your hair. But when combined, they act as a powerhouse. This has been used by many naturalists with positive results. Give this DIY hair treatment a try, and let us know the results on social or in the comments below.
