Facial massage tools have gained popularity over the past few years, and for good reason. These tool can tone your facial muscles, reduce fine lines and stimulate the lymphatic system. Most of us prefer the jade roller for its simplicity and efficiency – but the jade roller is just one of many massage tools in the skincare industry. Always on the look-out for something new, our intrigue lies among the lesser known facial tools. Many of which are equally, if not more effective than the popular tools today.
Currently, Ayurveda’s Kansa wand has us captivated.
What is the Kansa Wand?
The kansa wand, pronounced cuns, is made from pure tin and copper (a sacred bronze) known as “Healing Metal” in Ayurveda. The goal behind using the kansa wand is to provide slight friction to the facial muscles. This pulls acidity from the tissues and decreases damaging acid build-up. It has been used for centuries in India to improve health, reduce stress and increase energy. It can also leave the skin with a natural, healthy glow.
This is a very convenient tool to use, as it’s designed with a wooden handle and bronze dome. Without much effort, you can apply as much pressure as you prefer when stroking the tool along your face. Similarly to other facial tools, the kansa wand works even better when you apply organic oils to your face beforehand. In India and in Ayurveda practices, jojoba oil is the popular choice.
So why give the kansa tool a second thought? This unique tool can:
- Increase the vibrancy of your skin
- Decrease stress and release toxins from the body
- Energize and relax you at the same time
- Tighten the skin
How to Use
A face massage with a kansa wand is very easy to achieve. Its design allows you to move it along your skin with ease, especially if you first apply an oil. You may seem some similarities with your current facial massage tool, so if you purchase a kansa wand, its application will feel very natural.
- Make sure you cleanse your face so that it’s clean
- Apply jojoba oil or another organic oil and massage it over your face
- With your kansa wand, rub it around your face in circular motions – it’s said to begin with the forehead, as this is an “energy center”
- Pay a lot of attention massaging your forehead and then move down to the eyebrows and massage gently
- Massage your temples and around the cheekbones
- Massage around your ears, but don’t directly massage the ears
- Lastly, massage your chin
