7 Ways to Use Coconut oil in Your Skincare Routine

Coconut oil is linked to some potential benefits for the skin, which include the reduction of inflammation, keeping one’s skin moisturized and it also helps in healing wounds. Coconut oil is high in healthy saturated fats that have different effects than most other fats in our diet. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne and protect the skin from harmful bacteria. These fats boost fat burning and provide your body and brain with quick energy.

1. Frizzy Hair:

Coconut oil seems most beneficial when used in small amounts to coat hair or reduce frizz as hair may not respond well to being coated in large amounts of it. Also, the oil keeps your hair looking healthy and shiny, plus the smell is a bonus.

2. Makeup Remover:

Massage the oil into your skin in a circular motion to remove makeup. Use a warm, wet washcloth to wipe off excess coconut oil (again, it should come off easily without any skin tugging or rubbing), then splash face with warm water and you are done.

3. Skin Conditioner:

Coconut oil is excellent to use as a skin moisturizer, it is an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory natural product. Coconut oil helps minimize breakouts of acne and also keep the pores dirt free. For oily skin, apply warm coconut oil liberally all over the face and neck after washing with a mild soap.

4. Body Scrub:

It is the best body scrub as it leaves your body feeling like baby skin. Combine a tablespoon of coconut oil with a tablespoon of ground coffee, and you have got a great body scrubbing mix. You can increase the ratio of each when you want to use it all over the body. Some other alternatives to exfoliates other than ground coffee are ground sea salt and sugar.

5. Night Cream:

Add a few drops of coconut oil to your moisturizer and apply it at night before sleeping if you are prone to face acne. If not, then you can apply the oil as it is on your face. Also, if you don’t like the feel of creams, or if your skin feels heavy after applying a moisturizer, apply coconut on your skin, it will make the skin glow and feel less heavy.

6. Face Mask:

The best way to use coconut is on the face is in the form of a mask. Combine 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of melted coconut oil. Let it set for 15-20 minutes. Make sure you dry your face is clean, and apply the mask. Wait about 10 minutes and remove it all with a warm washcloth.

7. Shaving Balm:

Apply a thin layer of coconut oil onto your legs before shaving to trap that moisture in and leave your legs feeling as smooth as a baby’s bottom, yet beautiful for the eyes to see.
