There are many options available to the women of today for removal of unwanted body hair. Over the past few decades, waxing has remained as the primary choice of many; however, it doesn’t mean that it’s the only choice.
Listed below are some alternatives:
Threading
Threading can be effectively used for hair removal especially on smaller areas such as your eyebrows and upper lips. It can easily be done at home and with some practice, you can thread your own self. The method involves a long piece of thread and a technique that is easy to learn. To make things more convenient, threading machines are now also available.
Sugaring
The process of using a paste of sugar, lemon and water to remove hair is called sugaring. It is a less painful method as the paste only sticks to the hair and not the skin. The paste can be made at home as well and is very easy to use. Sugaring can be done on sensitive areas as it is organic and would not cause any skin irritation or allergies. Sugaring leaves the skin feeling smooth for a longer period of time.
Shaving
The most convenient way to get rid of body hair is shaving. It’s fast, painless and mess free. It works best when there is an unplanned meet up or dinner date and you haven’t had time to visit the salon. Furthermore, in order to get waxing done for instance, the hair needs to be at least half an inch long but a razor on the contrary can be effectively used for any hair length.
Laser
With advancements in the modern world, laser is fast becoming the most popular method of hair removal. It is a permanent solution to body hair removal. The process uses a laser of condensed light, beamed into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles and this obliterates the hair. It can be done safely on all parts of the body. It does not damage the surrounding skin and is painless. Usually, 3 to 4 sittings are required to permanently remove the hair.
Epilator
The epilator machine is another convenient way of removing hair. An epilator is an electrical device that removes hair mechanically by grabbing multiple hair and pulling them out. It can be used at anytime, anywhere. The machine is small and compact and can be carried in a handbag. It is ideal to take on a vacation with you.
Tweezing
Tweezers can be used to remove unwanted hair as well. It can be effectively used to shape eyebrows and clear away upper lip hair. Tweezing does not cause the hair to grow back thicker. It is a very precise tool and can be used in emergencies, when going to the salon is not an option. It is easier than threading and using this method, will also ensure that your hair does not grow back neither thicker nor faster, giving you couple of days off from your hair removal routine.
Electrolysis
In this waxing method, a tiny needle is inserted into the hair follicle, followed by an electrical energy pulse to destroy the follicle. This method is more effective than laser treatments. The process may take longer than laser treatments and may be more painful, but it’s much easier on the pocket.
