DIY Brown Sugar and Honey Lip Scrub

DIY lip scrub

It may not be winter anymore, but that doesn’t mean you should stop exfoliating your lips. Dead flaky skin will build up no matter what the season. It’s important to remove dry skin cells to prevent dark spots from appearing. Before you head to your nearest drug store to replenish your lip scrub supply, we have a simple DIY recipe for you to try. Simply follow the steps in our video tutorial and you’ll be on your way to luscious, beautiful lips. And we all know the importance of exfoliating your skin.

Brown Sugar and Honey Lip Scrub

During warm months you should use this DIY lip scrub to exfoliate your lips once a week. Don’t do it anymore than once a week or you may end up causing even dryer, flakier lips. Remember that the skin on your lips is more delicate than the skin on your face.

What You Need

  1. Two teaspoons brown sugar
  2. One teaspoon coconut oil (olive oil or almond oil also work)
  3. One teaspoon honey
  4. Dash of cayenne pepper (optional but will add plumpness)

Directions

Mix all the ingredients until you get a thick paste. Rub on your lips for about one minute. After you rinse off the lip scrub, apply an all-natural lip balm to maintain plump, healthy looking lips.

Why We Used These Ingredients

Here’s why we love these ingredients and why they were incorporated into our DIY lip scrub.

Brown Sugar: The particles in brown sugar are much smaller than in salts and other sugars, which means it’s gentler on the skin. It also has glycolic acid which fights bacteria. This ingredient also keeps the skin on your lips healthy.

Coconut Oil: The coconut oil moisturizes and softens the skin and has trace amounts of vitamin e and proteins.

Honey: Just like the coconut oil, honey moisturizes your lips to keep the hydrated longer. An added bonus is that it’s full of antioxidants which rejuvenates your lips, making them stay young looking.
