When it comes to the health of your skin, the winter season is NOT fun!
The cold weather and dry air steal away your skin’s moisture, leaving it flaky and cracked. With the holidays just around the corner, you would want to make sure your skin looks smooth and flawless this winter season.
Here are some helpful winter skincare tips for you!
1. Only say yes to lukewarm water
While hot showers are a blessing in the winter season, consider using lukewarm water while washing your face and hands. It would prevent the stripping away of essential oils from your skin and hence, prevent dryness.
2. Do not forget to moisturize
Make it a habit to moisturize your skin right after you wash it. The key is to apply a moisturizer while your skin is still damp so that it may lock the dampness into your skin. The easiest way to go around this is by keeping a bottle at the sinks and beside the bathtub and shower stall.
One important thing to note here is that some moisturizers are packed with petroleum-based ingredients that do nothing but further dry your skin. So, make sure you go for a smart oil-based formula that helps retain moisture in the winter season.
3. Drink water
In the winter season, we tend to forget that our skin needs moisture, as we get busy enjoying hot drinks, like tea and cocoa. Do not lower your water intake in winters. A lukewarm glass of water with lemon will not only keep your hydration levels at optimal but also provide an instant wave of refreshment that will last throughout the day.
In winters, it is important to slough off the dead skin cells, especially on your hands. With a thick layer of dead cells, moisture cannot get in. Hence, the dry, flaky skin!
So, use an exfoliating mask on your face, hands, and your lips, gently – and immediately moisturize after it. You will love how smooth your skin will get!
